
Description
This module is designed for people providing care and support to people with learning disabilities or autism. It aims to focus on developing the ability to contribute to behaviour-informed positive behavioural support plans and strategies.
Through an engaging virtual classroom session, you will learn:
- Observation, recording and reporting approaches
- Actions to protect vulnerable people
- Positive planning
- Proactive and reactive strategies
- Reinforcing behaviour in a PBS Framework
Our expert trainers have years of experience supporting individuals and are dedicated to providing you with the most up-to-date information and techniques. Upon completion of the course, you will have the tools you need to contribute to behaviour-informed positive behavioural support plans and strategies.
This trainer-led virtual classroom course is 3.5 hours (including breaks) and delivered over Zoom. It can also be tailored for teams of colleagues to address the specific scenarios they face in their role and delivered by Maybo or by an organisation's in-house trainers either virtually or onsite - to arrange a consultation for team training please contact us.

Objectives
Part 1 | Know how different tools are used to observe, record and report behaviours
On completion you will be able to:
- Identify ways to gather information required for behavioural change
- Identify direct and indirect assessments
- Identify direct and indirect observational assessment tools
- Explain the difference between incident reporting and behaviour recording
Part 2 | Know how to respond to poor practice
On completion you will be able to:
- Recognise poor practice
- Explain how to respond appropriately to poor practice
- Define whistleblowing
Part 3 | Understand person-centred approaches to positive behaviour support planning
On completion you will be able to:
- Identify proactive and reactive strategies to support positive behaviour support planning
- List information that may be included in a positive behaviour support plan
- Explain the purpose of functional behaviour assessments
Part 4 | Understand the purpose of behavioural reinforcement
On completion you will be able to:
- Explain the principles of behavioural reinforcement
- Recognise reinforcement strategies
