This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to effectively and safely communicate with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis with confidence and compassion. Through an engaging virtual classroom session you will learn how to identify signs of a mental health crisis, reduce the immediate risks it may pose to the individual and others around them, and use communication to de-escalate a situation where an individual is in distress. You will also gain an understanding of the different types of mental health disorders and how they can affect communication. Our expert trainers have years of experience working with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and are dedicated to providing you with the most up-to-date information and techniques. Upon completion of the course, you will have the tools you need to communicate effectively with individuals in crisis and influence a positive and safer outcome. This trainer-led virtual classroom course is 4 hours (including breaks) and delivered over Zoom. Through an engaging virtual classroom session you will learn how to identify behaviours that challenge and signs of escalation to reduce the immediate risks it may pose to the individual and others around them, and use communication to de-escalate a situation. Our expert trainers have years of experience working with individuals exhibiting behaviours that challenge and are dedicated to providing you with the most up-to-date information and techniques.
